How to Check a Parcel Delivery Text Before You Pay
Delivery-text scams imitate couriers. Verify the tracking number, payment request, and sender before clicking a link.
Before deciding, identify the exact problem you want to solve and the information you can verify independently. The steps below focus on practical checks, common failure points, and what to do next.
Identify the message's claim
Read the message without opening links. Note whether it says you owe a tiny redelivery fee, must update an address immediately, or will lose a package within hours. Pressure and a small requested payment are common warning signs, not proof of a real delivery.
Compare the claimed carrier and tracking number with an order you actually placed. A genuine-looking logo or sender name can be copied; examine the whole web address rather than trusting its first few letters.
Verify through the courier itself
Open the courier's official app or type its verified website address directly into your browser. Use the tracking reference on your purchase confirmation, not the link in the text. Contact the retailer from your original order if tracking is unclear.
Be suspicious of requests for payment card numbers, one-time passcodes, or identity documents through an unfamiliar page. A legitimate shipment may involve fees, but verify any charge independently first.
Respond without making the problem worse
Do not reply with personal information or call numbers provided in a suspicious text. Report or block the message using your phone's tools and the relevant carrier's official reporting process.
If you entered card details, contact your bank through its official contact channel immediately and monitor transactions. If you reused a password, change it on the real website and turn on multifactor authentication.
Keep a simple future rule
Maintain order confirmations in one mailbox or shopping account so you can compare the date, tracking number, and seller. Avoid posting tracking screenshots publicly because they may expose delivery details.
When in doubt, do nothing through the text itself. An authentic shipment can normally be checked from an independent trusted route.
